  • A modification of a widely-used topical herbal formula, san huang gao (three yellows plaster), Herbal Ice uses the three most popular heat-clearing herbs in the Chinese Materia Medica. It adds complementary herbs in da huang (rhubarb root), zhi zi (gardenia fruit) and pu gong ying (dandelion): a combination understood in Classical Chinese Medical texts to reduce swelling and relieve pain. Finally, it employs san qi (notoginseng root), the number one herb for traumatic injury, to help blood clotting and prevent blood stasis. Effectively aiding in clotting while simultaneously increasing circulation to prevent swelling.

  • During acute inflammation, apply a generous amount of the salve to the site of injury and cover. Repeat every 3-4 hours for 2-3 days or as long as there is inflammation.
